Torah Readings 2009 - 2010

Click here to enjoy regular Christian Torah devotionals brought by BFP leaders. Each week's Torah portion is called a parsha, which is the Hebrew word meaning 'portion'.

Christian believers will be helped as they read through the entire Torah (Genesis to Deuteronomy) following the traditional Jewish annual Torah reading schedule, as well as the Haftorah readings from the Tanakh (the Jewish Bible), adding the not-so-traditional Brit haChadashah (New Testament) readings.

The annual reading schedule is both instructive and a source of great blessing - as the Lord said in Joshua 1:8 - "This Book of the Torah shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success."

The annual cycle begins on the first Shabbat after Simchat Torah, the last day added on to the Feast of Tabernacles (Sukkot). However, festivals and special days have their own readings and sometimes adjacent parshas are combined into one, so you will need a Torah calendar to find the regular parshas and their assigned Scriptures, with the special readings for special days.

A calendar of these Torah readings is available here. For further helpful information, click here.

Enjoy following the links and reading and meditating on the same Scriptures to which our Jewish brothers and sisters turn each week.
